Certification Readiness
Expert guidance from gap assessment to certification audit — delivered by practitioners who have prepared real suppliers through national aerospace industrial development programs.
Why It Matters
AS9100 (design and manufacturing) and AS9110 (maintenance and repair) certification is not just another quality credential: it is the entry requirement for doing business with major OEMs and their Tier 1 and Tier 2 suppliers. Without it, your company simply does not appear on the procurement radar of the global aerospace industry. With it, your organization is registered in the IAQG OASIS database — visible to sourcing teams across the entire sector.
For Latin American companies, certification is the difference between competing for high-value aerospace manufacturing and services contracts, or remaining confined to low-margin local markets. Aerospace supply chains are actively seeking geographic diversification — and Latin America offers cost, time-zone and talent advantages that only materialize with certification in hand. This is not a cyclical window: it is structural, driven by capacity shortages and supplier-diversification policies that will remain active for years — but it will fill with whoever certifies first.
Strategic Timing
The industry is in the midst of a regulatory shift: the IAQG will publish the new revision of the standard — rebranded IA9100 — toward the end of 2026, aligned with ISO 9001:2026, with a two-to-three-year transition period for certified organizations. Organizations that build a well-structured AS9100D system today will transition naturally to IA9100; those who improvise will pay the cost twice. Our program incorporates from the outset the elements the new revision emphasizes: demonstrable quality culture, counterfeit-part prevention with end-to-end traceability, human factors, and digital management of the system.
Who This Is For
Machining, composites, electronics, special processes — seeking to enter the aerospace supply chain.
Aircraft maintenance organizations seeking accreditation with international clients.
Already certified companies ready to step up to the aerospace standard.
Current defense-sector suppliers needing to formalize their management system for international programs.
The Program
Full assessment of your current management system against the applicable standard. Deliverable: a prioritized gap report and a realistic roadmap with efforts, owners and timelines.
Building or adjusting your quality management system documentation: policy, objectives, processes, procedures and work instructions — including aerospace-specific requirements (risk management, configuration management, counterfeit-part prevention, product safety, supplier management). We work with your team, not instead of your team, so the system lives in the organization.
Training for leadership and operational staff on the standard's requirements, internal auditor training, and support through your first internal audits.
Complete readiness audit, closure of nonconformities, guidance in selecting an accredited certification body, and support through Stage 1 and Stage 2 audits. Certification is granted by an independent accredited certification body of your choosing — our role is to ensure your organization walks into that audit ready to pass it.

Why GlobalADInsights
This program is not run by a generic quality consultant. It is led by a consultant with over 35 years in the aerospace and defense industry and a track record that uncommonly spans both sides of AS9100 certification:
From 2016 to 2020, led gap closure, implementation of the standard's requirements —integrated with the organization's other management systems— and their validation, through to CIAC's (Corporación de la Industria Aeronáutica Colombiana) AS9100 and AS9110 certification and the subsequent administration of the certified system. Earlier, at the Colombian Air Force, coordinated the Aeronautical Logistics process within its integrated management system and trained and served as an internal quality auditor. AS9100 Rev. D Lead Auditor.
Participated in Colombia's national aerospace supplier-development programs sponsored by Colombia Productiva between 2019 and 2025, working with nearly 200 SMEs in the sector — assessing them against AS9100 requirements, industry best practices, and OEM and Tier supplier requirements.
He knows both sides of the table: what the standard requires — because he has implemented, audited and sustained it inside real aerospace organizations — and what an aerospace buyer looks for when evaluating a new supplier — because he has assessed nearly 200 companies against exactly those requirements. That dual perspective is the difference between getting certified and becoming a supplier.
Duration & Investment
A typical readiness program runs six to twelve months, depending on your current management system maturity, the scope of certification, and internal team availability. The initial assessment defines the realistic timeline for your specific case. Investment is defined after the initial assessment based on your organization's size and management maturity.
FAQ
No formal prerequisite. The aerospace standard includes all ISO 9001 requirements plus the aerospace-specific ones, so you can implement it directly. If you already have ISO 9001, the path is shorter.
AS9100 applies to organizations that design or manufacture products for the aerospace industry. AS9110 applies to maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) organizations. AS9120 covers distributors. The initial assessment confirms which standard applies to your operation.
No — and be wary of anyone who promises otherwise. Certification is the entry condition: it makes you eligible and visible. Converting that eligibility into contracts requires genuine competitive capability. Our engagement includes guidance on how to present your organization to aerospace buyers.
AS9100D certifications remain valid, and there will be a two-to-three-year transition period once the new revision is published. Our program builds your system with the new revision's emphases incorporated from the start, so the transition is an adjustment, not a reconstruction.
We serve organizations across Latin America, in Spanish and English, through a combined model: structured remote work and on-site presence at the milestones that require it.
